Musty Smell In My Wine Refrigerator

I have a small (50 bottle) wine refrigerator that I use to store some of my better wines. It does a great job with maintaining the correct temperature. The humidity is maintained with a small tray filled with water. The problem is that I have noticed that a musty smell has developed inside. First - I assume the smell is caused by some mold or mildew that has developed - is this potentially harmful to the wine being stored? Second - what can I do to correct the problem?

Beginning Wine Drinker

I have recently begun developing a taste for wine but I do not know anything about it. Have tasted several kinds but would like to become more educated in an easy way! Any suggestions would be appreciated. I do know I tend to prefer the sweeter/fruitier wines but unless I do a taste test I don't know what they are. Shiraz, cabernet, riesling etc I need to know the difference.Thank you for any help you might be able to give a beginner! Nancy

Evac Question

Wine Question: I bought one of those Evac Devices to remove the air from an open wine bottle. It seems to work for a day or so as we usually finish the bottle by then. Assuming you agree this works, how long would an open bottle that has been "evacuated" actually last before degradation takes place???
