Join us for Turner Seafood’s Great Guinness and Oyster Gathering, a unique evening celebrating two things we know and love: expertly handled oysters and perfectly poured Guinness.
Guided by Guinness Brewery Ambassador Mike Reardon, Great Marsh Shellfish Company founder Brenden Doyle, and Turner’s own oyster experts, guests will enjoy Guinness-and-oyster pairings while learning the art of the perfect pint, the world of local oyster farming, and the basics of safe oyster shucking. Along the way, you’ll experience oysters and Guinness in classic pairings and a few unexpected preparations.
Here's what to expect for the evening...
Hosted by Turner’s Seafood at Rising Eagle Publick House, in historic Melrose, MA, this unique tasting event will take place in the Upham Room, a beautiful and comfortable space that sets the perfect tone for an evening of flavor, conversation, and discovery.
The night begins with an opening toast and a freshly poured pint of Guinness Draught, guided by Guinness Brewery Ambassador Mike Reardon, who will demonstrate the art of the Perfect Pour. Guests will enjoy a relaxed grazing-style experience featuring oysters with a Guinness mignonette, crabcake and oyster po' boy sliders, oyster stew, a charcuterie table and guided pairing cards designed to help you explore how different oyster profiles complement Guinness Draught and other Guinness-family beer selections.
Mike will share stories and insight into the history and personality of Guinness, including the brand’s famous advertising, Gilroy artwork, and the long-loved connection between Guinness and oysters. Guests will also hear from Brenden Doyle, local oyster farmer and founder of Great Marsh Shellfish Company in Rowley, Massachusetts, who will speak about oyster farming, local waters, and what goes into growing a great oyster. Brenden will also lead a shucking demonstration, offering practical tips on how to properly and safely open an oyster.
Of course, Turner’s Seafood’s own oyster expertise will be at the heart of the night, helping bring together the beer, the oysters, and the food in a way that feels both approachable and memorable.
The evening concludes with a special Guinness cocktail, Guinness cheesecake, and a gift basket drawing. Every guest will also head home with an official Guinness pint glass and other small mementos to remember the evening.
Whether you come for the Guinness, the oysters, the history, or the chance to learn something new, the Great Guinness and Oyster Gathering promises a flavorful, social, and memorable night in one of Melrose’s most distinctive historic spaces.
