A Dinner Party Where Strangers Become Friends

Join us for our first dinner party at Unconventional Diner in Mt. Vernon Square — a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant where French-trained technique meets American comfort food, the art on the walls is funky, and Thursday nights were made for meeting new people over a meal worth talking about.

"Loved the location; good group of people. The conversations were interesting. The food and service was impeccable." — DC Guest

How It Works

You'll arrive at Unconventional Diner and meet the group over a complimentary glass of wine as part of our mix and mingle session. Once everyone's arrived and settled in, we'll sit down for a 3-course family-style dinner; with two seat rotations between courses so you meet everyone at the table. Our trained host facilitates the evening with light conversation prompts and seat rotations. By dessert, you'll have exchanged numbers with people you'll actually want to see again and plans for next week.

About the Venue

Unconventional Diner is exactly what it sounds like — a diner, but not the one you're picturing. Chef David Deshaies trained under the legendary Michel Richard at Citronelle, then decided that great food shouldn't be reserved for white tablecloth restaurants. The result is a Michelin Bib Gourmand spot in Mt. Vernon Square where classic American comfort dishes get elevated with French technique and global inspiration — think meatloaf that's nothing like your mom's, sweet potato shakshuka, and a Peruvian soup inspired by trips to his wife's homeland. The space matches the energy: bright blue booths, sage green banquettes, colorful pop-art on the walls, and a long winding bar that feels like the kind of place where something good is always happening.
