Mutra’s Raz Shabtai welcomes James Beard Award-winning chef Karen Akunowicz of Boston’s Fox & the Knife for a one-night-only SOBEWFF® collaboration—set inside a restaurant that recently made culinary history.

In 2026, Mutra became the first kosher restaurant in the world to earn a MICHELIN Star, a groundbreaking achievement for Shabtai and the restaurant he named in honor of his grandmother. For the Israeli-born chef, food begins with family. He learned to cook by her side and has built Mutra around what he describes as Jerusalem home cooking: soulful, contemporary cuisine rooted in childhood memories, seasonality, locally sourced ingredients, and the belief that food is something sacred.

Akunowicz brings a very different—but equally personal—culinary story to the table. The James Beard Award-winning chef and restaurateur behind Boston’s Fox & the Knife is celebrated for bold, deeply flavorful Italian cooking inspired in part by the time she spent living and cooking in Modena, Italy.

For one night, those two culinary worlds will meet at Mutra. Expect a menu where Shabtai’s MICHELIN-starred approach to contemporary Jerusalem cuisine and Akunowicz’s soulful Italian cooking play off one another, with each course offering a glimpse into the memories, places, and traditions that have shaped the chefs behind it.
