Two of our favourite chefs, father and son, Jeff and Joel Matthews opened their long-awaited restaurant, IBU, last winter and have been booked solid since. And now we have a date in the autumn for a special evening for Vine & Diners!
Father Jeff’s career started in Calgary at La Chaumiere and Four Seasons before Fairmont in Montreal, and then cooking for King Hussein of Jordan. He went on to lead kitchens in Australia and Southeast Asia. Joel’s passion for cooking ignited during his time in Bali and Australia before returning to Calgary in 2016.
Together they craft dishes that marry global flavours with vibrant Asian influences reflecting their 30 years in Asia. IBU – meaning “mother” in Indonesian – represents warmth, community, and shared experiences.
Join us for six carefully created and beautifully presented, delicious courses each paired to complement the flavours of Chefs Jeff and Joel’s creative and upscale menu, and hear the stories behind the dishes and of their time in Asia.
