With over 4,000 years of winemaking history, Greece has many unique grape varieties and distinctive wine styles. In this class, we will learn about Greece’s iconic wine regions like the volcanic soils of Santorini or the Peloponnese as well as how Greece’s innovative use of clay amphorae played a role in advancing winemaking. We will also learn how its 300+ indigenous grape varieties, such as Assyrtiko and Xinomavro, have played a role in shaping its winemaking history. Join us as we taste through the wines of Greece and learn how its ancient roots have influenced modern wine today.
