Summer camps for grown-ups are trending, from reading retreats to nostalgia-maxxing getaways in nature. Now, there’s even one for bourbon lovers, thanks to Buffalo Trace Distillery—and better yet, it’s free.
Held on August 29 and September 5, 2026, Camp Buffalo Trace is billed as an immersive, one-of-a-kind experience that reimagines the classic camp activities around the beloved American spirit.
Rather than traditional arts and crafts and outdoor activities, there will be cocktail making, blind tasting challenges, bourbon trivia, a workshop crafting custom muddlers from authentic white-oak barrel staves, and relay races inspired by how barrels are prepared in a cooperage. Attendance will be exclusively chosen from an online sweepstakes running July 14 through 21, with 100 lucky guests (ages 21 and up) chosen to participate for each day of camp, plus the chance for 10 of the attendees to stay overnight in luxe canvas tents on the distillery grounds in Frankfort, Kentucky—a first in its over 200-year history. And, because this is the South in high summer, the tents will be air-conditioned with mini-fridges fully stocked with water and Freddie’s Old-Fashioned Sodas.
