I have a 2010 bottle of Cavit wine unopened. Will it still be good. It has been stored in my pantry.
Answer From Expert Roger Bohmrich MW

Which Cavit wine do you have? If it's their top-selling Pinot Grigio, this is a wine to drink immediately on release, as is the case with their other whites such as Riesling or Moscato. Buy only enough of these types to drink within a few months. Their red wines are also intended to be consumed early and not aged further, but the Cabernet Sauvignon or Select Red Blend could probably stand up to a few years of keeping. There is as well the critical question of the storage conditions: a pantry suggests the kitchen, perhaps the least suitable place to store wine owing to the frequent heat and overall variability. I would recommend you find somewhere else - the bottom of a dark, cool closet - to keep your wines.
