My career has seen me through far too many years as a professional cook (the chef is for the dilettantes), artilleryman, and various other trades. I've learned from a great many wise men and women, most of whom couldn't afford the piece of paper to prove it. So welcome and feel free to join the conversation.

South Florida Food & Wine Blog is a go-to resource for all things food, wine and events from Palm Beach to South Beach. We promote what we believe is hot, hip & happening; from gourmet foods, to wine tastings and happy hours to cookbooks and recipes to winemaker dinners, gourmet markets and cooking classes. The common thread is "always in good taste". So if you have a palate for good taste and a penchant for fun this blog for you, is the one!

I focus on whites, and include many wines from British Columbia, where I live; in particular I try to cover as many BC Rieslings as I can each year. In the fall of 2010, I completed the WSET Level 2 Intermediate Certificate in Wines and Spirits from Fine Vintage Ltd, instructed by Lynn Coulthard—an excellent course and instructor. (I took the Level 1 Foundation course in early 2006, instructed by James Cluer). I use the Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine (PDF).
