Prehistoric Pours with Jill Weber

Enjoy a private, museum visit with food and wine!

Join us for a night of Prehistoric Pours! On Friday, November 13, Edelman Fossil Park & Museum is teaming up with archaeologist and ancient wine expert Jill Weber, owner of Philadelphia’s Jet Wine Bar, for a one-of-a-kind after-hours experience exploring the connection between fossils, ancient landscapes, and the wines produced there today.

Travel through five museum exhibits, including Dryptosaurus, New Jersey’s own Hadrosaur, our Monstrous Seas exhibit, and Dr. Kenneth Lacovara’s discovery of Dreadnoughtus. At each stop, enjoy a curated three-ounce wine pour paired with a complementary bite from 12th Street Catering.

A stop at the Dryptosaurus with a wine from Puglia, Ora Collective Primitivus Primitivo, which has famous regions of Theropod tracks, complemented by a Beef Tenderloin & Wild Mushroom Crostini, with thinly-sliced beef tenderloin, wild mushroom duxelles, truffle aioli, on a garlic-herb toasted croute.

The Hadrosaur, discovered in Haddonfield, New Jersey, with William Heritage Unoaked Chardonnay, a wine from a vineyard proximal to the area of discovery, paired with a Lemon-Parmesan Gougere

A pairing of Domaine Ouled Thaleb Zenata Rouge, a wine from Morocco, where the Ouled Abdoun basin has a diversity of Mosasaurinae, with a Seared Swordfish Skewer with smoked red peppers and onions and a Moroccan chermoula drizzle

Fossils in the shark-heavy El Gallo formation, with El Bajio Sparkling Rose from Baja, Mexico, served alongside a Chicken Tinga Tostada, with queso and avocado on a blue corn tostada

Dr. Lacovara’s (founding executive director of the museum) Dreadnoughtus discovery, which was found in Patagonia, with Familia Schroeder Saurus Pinot Noir, an estate with its own Titanosaur (pictured on the label), paired with Browned Butter-Raspberry Financiers, half dipped in dark chocolate.

Discover how fossils from Morocco, Patagonia, and Mexico connect to the Late Cretaceous landscape preserved right here at Edelman Fossil Park & Museum. Along the way, explore how the soil, climate, and environmental conditions that shaped these ancient worlds continue to influence the wines produced in those regions today.
