Wine can bring us together in community and celebration, anchor our memories to a moment in time, or enchant us with aromas that transport us to places we remember, or dream of going. It can also intimidate, elude, or confound.
Join Mechanics' Institute Librarian, Jessica, in a wine appreciation series where we'll gather to discuss and enjoy wine; demystifying it enough to feel confident, while keeping the magic held in the juice. We'll be talking wine, tasting wine, and taking an introductory look into what's in the glass and what it took for it to get there.
You have the choice to buy individual classes if you do not wish to buy the entire series bundle!
Tickets can be purchased in person at the Institute. In-person purchases are not subject to EventBrite processing fees.
Class Dates:
We'll start at the beginning, discussing the basics of wine.
Talking about and tasting wines made from well-known varietals.
An intro to the world of sparkling wines.
Maybe you've seen them on a menu or the store shelf, but you've never heard of the grape. Join us for an adventurous foray into tasting some lesser known varietals.
Is organic wine natural wine? Is it bio-dynamic? What even is bio-dynamic? Let's get into it together. We'll talk natural wines, climate impacts, and winemaking ethoses.
Try your hand at blind tasting wine in a relaxed, no pressure environment meant for fun and learning together.
Cancellation policy:
For each session, we reserve the right to cancel at any time and issue a full refund. If you are unable to attend the seminar, please email jjaramillo@milibrary.org or call 415-393-0101 by Wednesday, August 26 to receive a full refund, less any non-refundable ticketing fees which may be applicable. All fees must be paid at the time of registration. After Wednesday, August 26, no refunds will be issued.
