In 2019, winemaker Hugo D'Acosta and chef Benito Molina set out on a remarkable journey across the Baja California peninsula, traveling over 1,000 kilometers. D'Acosta and Molina reflect on their personal and professional journeys, sharing their thoughts on community, sustainability, and the irreversible impact of human actions on this unique landscape. Hugo D’Acosta is one of Mexico’s most renowned winemakers and will be pouring a curated selection of wines before the film. He makes several labels of highly acclaimed wines in Baja California and has led a new generation of winemakers through his charitable school, La Escuelita.

Culinary bites for the screening are courtesy of Chef Benito Molina. With Solange Muris, he co-founded their internationally acclaimed restaurant Manzanilla. Molina has become one of Mexico’s most renowned chefs known for his thoughtful treatment of the fresh seafood available in their coastal city of Ensenada. Molina and Muris recently created one of the featured dinners for Mesa Abierta, Enrique Olvera’s celebration of Mexican cuisine.
