The Urban Wine School proudly presents our inaugural Urban Winemaking Class!! Come learn how to make wine (or refine your winemaking skills) in this 3-session hands-on class where you'll make Pinot Grigio. Class sessions start at 6:30pm where you'll get settled in, with instruction starting at 7pm. Class dates are:
The course will be led by our Wine Educator TJ Bertsch, along with our Head Winemaker Dave Mazzone and Assistant Winemaker Brandon Sanders. We will cover a variety of topics including sanitary practices, reputable sourcing, winemaking chemistry, fermentation, racking, clarifying, stabilizing, filtering, bottling, and defects. Each class will include hard-copy handouts so you can give it try at home!
Class 1 (Feb 11th) will introduce you to key concepts such as sanitary practices, sourcing reputable equipment and juice, the winemaking process/ chemistry. We will get hands-on starting the fermentation process of our Pinot Grigio.
Class 2 (March 4th) will show you the change from juice to wine. We'll practice “Racking” the wine and further delve into Stabilization and Clarification. We'll have an in-depth discussion about the Pinot Grigio grape history and varietal.
Class 3 (April 15th) the final class will cover defects, common issues, and corrections. We’ll finish the class with bottling and labeling our wine!
The fee is $150 per person (Community Wine Club members receive a $50 discount - if you are interested in joining the Club, stop by or give us a call at 216-417-8313 for more info!)
