CHATEAU DOMS, GRAVES, BORDEAUX, FRANCE
Previously a monastery, Chateau Doms is a beautiful chartreuse dating back to the 17th century. Part of this monastery was converted into a winery in the 18th century. The chartreuse still houses the winery and barrel cellar. Located in Portets, heart of the Graves Appellation, 16 miles South East of Bordeaux, on a unique gravely ridge with sandy-clayey soil, with perfect exposure for maturity and incline for natural drainage. Chateau Doms has been in the Duvigneau Parage family since 1933, owned by wine growers from mother to daughter for five generations. The family is very humble in regards to their wines, which are some of the finest of the district. Extremely limited.
2024 Graves Blanc - CHATEAU DOMS
75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Semillon. 12 acres of gravelly &, sandy /clayey sub-soil devoted to Doms White wine. Aged 6 months in stainless steel, 6 months on concrete tanks. Crisp, fresh and full of white citrus fruits, this has a refreshing, lifted character. An edge of minerality adds to the wine’s complexity. It is fruity & ready to drink. Highly recommended.
2019 Graves Rouge 'Cuvee Emilia' - CHATEAU DOMS
70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. From a 45+ year old vineyard of 7 acres dedicated solely to the production of the 'Cuvee Emilia', with gravelly & sandy clay sub-soils. Aged 12 months in French oak barrels. Unfined & unfiltered and produced 100% organically. Cuvée Amélie was first vinified in 1995 by Hélène Durand & named after Amélie’s namesake great-grand-mother, who purchased the estate in 1933. Cuvée Amélie is a superb bottling showcasing the best of this estate’s exceptional terroir.
2019 Graves Rouge - CHATEAU DOMS
75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. The regular cuvee is put together from 27 different plots, all over 35+ years of age full of gravelly & sandy clay sub-soils. Vinification in stainless steel tanks. Aged in concrete & 10% oak barrels. Unfined. Cassis, licorice and sweet spices here. This is a medium to-full-bodied red, showing firm, fine-grained tannins and some coffee and vanilla character on the center palate that extends to the finish.
