Bordeaux is where the idea of fine wine first took shape, a region whose most storied châteaux—Lafite-Rothschild, Latour, Margaux, Mouton-Rothschild, Haut-Brion, and Pétrus—have become touchstones for wine lovers everywhere. These are the names that taught the world what Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot could be: wines of structure, depth, and a sense of place that unfolds over decades.
Yet Bordeaux is far more than its most famous estates. It is also the largest wine-growing region in France, home to nearly 120,000 hectares of vines and an astonishing diversity of wines. Beyond the legends—whose bottles represent only a small slice of total production—Bordeaux offers beautifully made wines at every price point, from both the Left and Right Banks. This tasting is an invitation to explore that full spectrum.
The region itself is shaped by water and soil. The Gironde River, fed by the Dordogne from the north and the Garonne from the south, divides Bordeaux into two distinct wine cultures. On the Left Bank, gravelly soils favor Cabernet Sauvignon, producing wines of structure, freshness, and classic graphite-edged intensity. Across the river, the clay and limestone soils of the Right Bank provide an ideal home for Merlot, resulting in wines that are plush, expressive, and deeply aromatic.
Our Left Bank journey moves from the Médoc in the north down through Graves, passing through legendary communes such as Saint-Estèphe, Pauillac, Saint-Julien, Margaux, and Pessac-Léognan. On the Right Bank, we explore Merlot-driven wines from renowned appellations like Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, alongside standout examples from Fronsac, Côtes de Bourg, and Côtes de Blaye—regions that consistently reward curiosity.
Come taste the Cabernets and Merlots of Bordeaux with us. Discover the subtle differences between Left and Right Bank, explore why these wines age so beautifully, and experience firsthand why Bordeaux continues to set the global standard.
