Instructor: Benoît Marguet of Champagne Benoît Marguet
WHAT YOU'LL GET IN THIS CLASS:
Join us for a truly unforgettable evening as we welcome renowned vintner Benoît Marguet to our Event Space, and Minnesota, for the first time! This is a rare opportunity to meet Benoît in an intimate class setting exploring his philosophy, farming, cellar practices and extraordinary wines—a chance to experience one of Champagne's most singular producers directly from the source and why we consider his wines beyond biodynamic.
For Benoît, biodynamics is far more than a farming philosophy. Every wine begins with fermentation in specially crafted barrels, followed by natural malolactic fermentation. Benoît also experiments with eggs and amphora, while bottling with very low SO₂ and no dosage to preserve the wines' natural character and vitality. His approach encompasses everything from biological vineyard treatments and protective buffer rows to weekly staff yoga and even gently resonating his cellar's distinctive triangular barrel stacks with a handpan. The result is a collection of Champagnes that feel remarkably alive—energetic, precise, nervy and deeply expressive of place.
MEET THE INSTRUCTOR:
Benoît Marguet
Benoît Marguet is one of Champagne’s leading grower-producers, farming Grand Cru vineyards in Ambonnay and Bouzy with biodynamic practices and an uncompromising focus on expressing terroir. At Marguet, every cuvée is fermented with native yeasts, vinified in oak from wood grown on the property, and produced with minimal intervention, resulting in distinctive, age-worthy Champagnes prized by sommeliers, collectors, and Michelin-starred restaurants worldwide.
