You probably have a pretty good idea of the kinds of wines you like and don’t like. Well this Friday’s free tasting from 3-7pm is going to challenge those ideas! We’ll be pouring five wines that don’t line-up very well with most wine drinkers’ expectations. Or are just plain outside your expectations entirely! You’ll get to try:

La Galope Cotes De Gascogne Rose 2025 – If your idea of rosé is the soft, supple, stone-fruit and watermelon scented wines of Provence, tasting this will get at least a raised eyebrow if not an out loud, “Wow!”. It’s Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown in Gascony just for rosé that’s herbal, snappy and tangy. And, frankly, really cheap.

Kellerei Andrian Pinot Grigio Vigneti delle Dolomiti 2025 - You probably think of Pinot Grigio as thin and tasteless. Get ready to have your mind blown by this rich, zesty and hugely flavorful PG from the Dolomites!

Clos Henri Sauvignon Blanc Otira Glacial Stones 2024 - Doug says, "Flat out the best NZ Sauvignon I've ever put in my mouth." If you're after more typical dollops of tropical fruit and cut grass, not for you. But if minerality and HUGE length are your thing, don't miss it.

Zyme Valpolicella Reverie 2024 - If you missed Celestino Gaspari's visit to the shop last Sunday, this is a great introduction to his work. Traditional Valplicella grapes and winemaking with lovely fruit and a touch of minty herb. Utterly non-traditional quality and delight.

Ch du Mayne Graves Rouge 2020 - You may not think of Bordeaux as a perfect casual cookout red. But you should! This 50/50 Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend with 50% new oak has the ripe fruit and spice for easy drinking and some smoky grip that loves anything with some char from the grill. Nice price, too.
