In this class you'll learn how to make a savory Sancocho to keep you warm through the cold winter.

La Cocina de Loisaida is a monthly in-person cooking class series presented by The Loisaida Center and Essex Market, where longtime Lower East Sider and home chef Maria Bido shares authentic Puerto Rican recipes and cooking techniques.

Each month we’ll explore a new batch of family favorites, all based in Puerto Rican flavors and using ingredients from Essex Market.

We're putting together a menu that will help keep you warm throughout the winter. You will Wow your family and friends when you make this Sancocho that is bursting with flavor.

Our menu includes:

Sancocho – Hearty Meat Stew (Pork & Beef)

Domplines – Fried Dough

Chocolate Chip Budin de Pan – Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding

The class will be approximately 2 hours long and include time to savor the dishes you prepare together as a group. La Cocina de Loisaida takes place in Trinity Church Kitchen.

This series is presented in partnership with The Loisaida Center with the collective mission to preserve and pass down culinary heritage from the Lower East Side community. We invite all ages and abilities to join us for these unique, fun and celebratory cooking classes.
