We’re continuing the weekend’s eclectic tasting line-up that will mostly give you some delicious options for Thanksgiving sipping and sharing. “Mostly” because there’s no way you’ll want to put the gloriously complex and distinctive Ch Musar White on the table with Turkey. Not because it won’t go! But a wine this unique wants a little more quiet attention than you’ll have to spare next Thursday. But next Friday…
Here’s what you’ll have the chance to sample on Saturday from noon-4pm as you get your pre-Thanksgiving wine shopping done:
Fontanavecchia Falanghina Taburno del Sannio 2024 – This long-time Italian white favorite pulled down another Tre Bicchieri award this year! At once crisp and mouthfilling, it’s certainly a great seafood white and also delicious with pretty much anything.
Steininger Grüner Veltliner Grand Grü 2023 – Once again, the perfect Thanksgiving white! Although that sells the rich and mineral-laden white short, because it’s equally delicious with seared scallops or crunch Viener Schnitzel!
Ch Musar White Bekaa Valley 2018 – More than just the most famous white wine of Lebanon, this is one of the world’s most distinctively complex whites period. Rare, not cheap, but a must-try for every wine lover.
Hartford Court Pinot Noir Oregon Warrior Princess Block 2022 - One of California's top Pinot houses reaches up to Oregon's Zena Crown vineyard for a "Warrior Princess" of a wine! As Jeb Dunnuck says in the 95 point rave, "I love this site, which provides a fresh lift and mouthwatering feel through the palate.”
Andrew Murray Tous Les Jours Syrah 2023 – Even though it only ties other recent vintages with its 93 point rating, this is the finest Tous Les Jours Syrah we’ve tried to date. The perfect blend of ripe California fruit and savory Syrah smoke and earth.
Donatella Cinelli Colombini Vin Santo Del Chianti 2009 – So you’re asking yourself, “What can we drink with Thanksgiving pie?” Well sip on this description from Vinous: "Rum-soaked raisins combine with cedar spice box, clove and candied apples…” Yum!
With so many other wild and diverse flavors on the tasting table, Jose keeps the madness going with this week’s featured cheese: Goat Rodeo Cowboy Coffee Goat Cheese. Fresh goat cheese gets rubbed with Commonplace Coffeehouse’s Perpetual Blend Espresso beans and then aged six months to build flavor and texture. Does it go with any of the wine? Beats us! But guaranteed to be a fun taste. And more fun is better, right?
