Please join us Wednesday, October 7th, as we present a bevy of wonderful new wines from a very old vineyard, Monte Rosso, in the Moon Mountain District of Sonoma.

We are very please to announce, joining us today to present these fine wines, is the highly regarded Estate Director Diego Del Pino, who brings another twenty years of experience to the team, leading the project along with Sani and Vineyard Manager Juan Alonso.

High above the Sonoma Valley, perched on the western slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains, lies one of California’s most significant historic Sonoma vineyards that tells the story of California winemaking itself. Monte Rosso Vineyard — named for its distinctive iron-rich, red volcanic soils — stands as a testament to pioneering spirit, viticultural perseverance, and the extraordinary wines that can emerge from a truly special place in Sonoma’s viticultural landscape.

“The vineyard was originally developed by the Goldstein family before being purchased by the Martini family in 1938, who renamed it Monte Rosso.

"This 2023 release marks the first vintage of Monte Rosso wines produced as a standalone brand from this iconic site, with total production currently around 800 cases. Perched high above Sonoma Valley, Monte Rosso Vineyard is defined by iron-rich red volcanic soils and fractured rhyolite at elevation, delivering some of California’s most powerful yet distinctly mineral-driven mountain fruit” (Decanter).

Many of the vine’s date to the 19th century, while most of the Cabernet was planted by Martini in the 1940s. “For reference, Napa Valley’s Mt. Veeder AVA lies just on the other side of the Mayacamas Mountains. The entrance of the ranch sits at about 700 feet above sea level and then winds up to nearly 1,300 feet. On a clear day Monte Rosso provides stunning views of the San Pablo Bay and San Francisco” (Vinous).

The wines are produced by Bernardino Sani, CEO and winemaker of the historic Argiano estate in Montalcino, Italy, who brings great experience, craftmanship, and a deep respect for this historic terroir and its venerable vines to the project.

Chef Jacques and his team have crafted a five-course French-inspired menu showcasing the bold character of the Montre Rosso wines alongside the finesse of classic French cuisine. We look forward to sharing with you the unique story and wines of Monte Rosso with our special guest, Diego Del Pino.
