La Costa Wine Co., the family-owned wine shop and tasting bar on El Camino Real, is hosting its Annual Fall Tasting Series. There are three afternoons, and each one focuses on a different classic wine category.

The Soul of Burgundy

Sunday, Nov. 8, 2–4 p.m.

A curated tasting that runs from Chablis to the Côte d’Or.

The Cabernet Collection

Saturday, Dec. 5, 2–4 p.m.

Bold, structured reds from Napa to Bordeaux.

The Grand Cuvée

Sunday, Dec. 13, 2–4 p.m.

Prestige Champagne and other top sparkling wines, just in time for New Year’s.

Wines like these are usually poured at ticketed galas or in Napa tasting rooms. Here you can taste them at a neighborhood shop where the staff knows the regulars by name. Owner Triana Henchey stocks wines from around the world, with a focus on small, minimally handled producers whose wines reflect where they’re grown. The approach is relaxed and welcoming, and you don’t need to be an expert to enjoy it.
