Are you curious about sake? Are you interested in tasting the differences between Junmai and Daiginjo? If so, join Chris Melton of Joto Sake to explore the styles and ranges of Japan’s celebrated beverage.

Chris has been a student of Sake for over 15 years. His Sake adventure began while working for a local restaurant group in Austin, TX curating the Sake & Wine program, which eventually expanded across Texas and into other states around the country. After a career in restaurants spanning 20 years, he began a career in Sake distribution, supplying retailers and restaurants with Sake across Texas.

Chris now works for JOTO Sake, importing Sake to the US from ten small, family-owned breweries from across Japan. He also regularly hosts educational seminars for consumers and those in the Sake trade on behalf of the Sake Sommelier Association.

We’ll explore the stylistic differences between Junmai and Honjozo, taste how sake is expressed in the north versus the south, and discuss the process that makes sake different from all the other wine, beer and spirits found in the store.
