Join us this Friday from 3–7pm for an Italian-centric wine tasting with a dash of Spanish flair. We’ll pour beloved classics like Gavi di Gavi, explore a lesser-known but equally delicious gem from Lugana, and then take a quick detour to Spain for a fresh, modern take on Toro. When Piccolo Ernesto’s Gavi di Gavi and Terre Nere’s Etna Rosso hit the table, you know you’re in for a dynamic, delicious tasting you won’t want to miss.
Piccolo Ernesto Gavi di Gavi 2024- From the Picollo family's home village of Rovereto in the heart of the Gavi di Gavi DOCG, this is pretty much the essence of the region’s native white grape, Cortese.
Marangona Lugana DOC 2023 – Lugana’s own Turbiana grape, a cousin to Verdicchio. As Wine Enthusiast said of the 94 point last release, while "Enjoyable now with some oysters or seafood, but tuck it away in the cellar to wow your friends in a few years."
Valle Reale Trebbiano d'Abruzzo 2023 - Trebbiano doesn’t get much respect, but grow it organically, at very low yields (25% under the legal limit) in a stunning national park near the Abruzzo coast and something very special happens.
Quinta de la Quietud Toro Corral de Campanas 2021 - This is their easygoing Toro, redolent of black and blue fruit, showing a whiff of spice and sandalwood, and finishing with firm, not tough, tannins.
Terre Nere Etna Rosso 2022 – A classic. As Vinous says in the 92+ point review, it “finishes impossibly long and staining yet only gently tannic, leaving a lovely air of lavender and cloves that echoes on.”
The wines will really sing, so a cheese from the Sound of Music’s Von Trapp Family is a great match! Von Trapp Family Farmstead Oma is washed in brine and balances sweet and salty with a melt in your mouth taste. Delicious cheese, delightful wines – all that’s missing is you!
