“Impressions Of Maryland” - Plein Air Paintings

As a part of our continued “Wine and Art Series”, Links Bridge Vineyards presents an exhibit of recent paintings by Tom Richie and Lissa Abrams. These are two accomplished Maryland plein air painters in the mid-Atlantic region. This exhibit presents their ongoing impressions of Maryland farmland, landscapes, still-life and people engaged in daily activities.  Both artists paint in a realist/impressionist style using a lively color palette creating a sense of place on a two-dimensional canvas.  Their medium of choice is oil with the occasional gouache and watercolor. Each medium presents various challenges and pleasures as they seek to capture the landscape through bold colors and rich textures.

Abrams and Ritchie are members of Gallery 322 in Frederick.  Gallery 322 is known for exhibiting works by plein air painters.  These two artists are well known in Frederick County and the surrounding area due to their lauded participation in the Frederick County’s annual Barnstormers Plein Air Competition. Ritchie won the Best in Show award in 2023, and Abrams won the Peoples’ Choice award in the following year. Both artists are members of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters’ Association and have won numerous awards in regional plein air competitions.
