The Tennessean Hotel and Maker Exchange welcomes Lokelani Alabanza, author of Ice Cream Queen: Flavors from Black America’s Past, Present & Future and founder of Nashville’s Saturated Ice Cream, for a special Ice Cream Social at Maker Exchange.

During this intimate happy hour experience, guests will enjoy a curated flight of three ice cream flavors created by Lokelani, along with one paired cocktail or mocktail. Additional beverages will be available for purchase.

Throughout the evening, Lokelani will share the stories, traditions, and lasting influence of Black ice cream makers in America, offering a deeper look at the history that inspired her new cookbook.

Ice Cream Queen is a joyful celebration of memory, identity, creativity, and Black excellence. Inspired in part by Sarah Estell, a free Black woman who operated a successful ice cream saloon in 1840s Nashville, the book brings together original creations and reimagined classics ranging from Malted Vanilla and Roasted Strawberry to Juneteenth Sorbet, PB&J, Nashville Hot Chicken, and Chocolate-Covered Kettle Chip.

Each ticket includes:

• A signed copy of Ice Cream Queen
• An intimate conversation with Lokelani Alabanza
