A Letter from Ron Hopwood, with warm regards from Janet, Sayge, and Quinn Hopwood

Dear Valued Customer and Friend,

It is time, the Hopwood's will retire! Over the years, you have played an integral role in the success of the Hopwood & William Rose family, and we are deeply grateful for your unwavering support. Together, we have built something truly remarkable—a community of thousands of customers. Your loyalty has not only allowed us to sustain our family business but has also enabled us to thrive, for which we are eternally thankful.

After much contemplation, Janet and I have made the decision to retire. This was not a choice we made lightly. As I reflect on the years of hard work, sacrifice, and passion that have shaped this journey, I am reminded of the countless memories and friendships we have forged along the way. I am also mindful that, throughout it all, I have not had a weekend off since I was 14 years old, and the family has not seen one since 2012. Despite the challenges—blood, sweat, and tears—I can honestly say it has been a journey filled with immense joy and purpose. It is one that I would not trade for anything. The Hopwood's have often been dubbed by our community and peers, "The hardest working family", I would agree.

We are incredibly proud of the success we have achieved. Since our opening in 2012, we have experienced exceptional growth.

As we transition into this new chapter of our lives, Sayge will soon be heading off to college, followed by Quinn. The kids will soon pursue their own dreams through higher education-college.

After many years of seven-day workweeks and long hours-planting, pruning, harvesting, fermenting, bottling and selling-Janet and I have come to the realization that it is time to prioritize our health and spend more time together as a family. While we are closing this chapter, we will remain residents in this area and are looking to purchase another home on Mackinac Island, and spend more time there. We hope to stay in contact with you, and perhaps, we can welcome you for a getaway on the island! There will be a place for you to stay, and, of course, plenty of wine and bourbon to enjoy.

This marks the conclusion of an era for our family, but the memories and relationships we’ve built will remain in our hearts. We want to thank you for being such a vital part of this journey. Hopwood Cellars Winery & William Rose Distillery's final day to be open will be mid-summer 2025, and we look forward to celebrating the closing of this chapter with our customers.

We will not be running closeout sales, as we are low on many wines, bourbons & whiskeys. Stop in and stock your cellars and racks with your favorite premium products at already low pricing.

20% off cases mix/match wine, bourbons & whiskeys.

We hope you will remain with us until closing and purchase our premium products, as they can be stored for many years to come.

With deepest gratitude and warmest regards,

Ron Hopwood
