Hirter Heavy Hitter Tapping (Featuring Hirter 1270)

Hirter 1270, an award-winning Austrian Vienna-style lager, arrived on DRAFT for the first time ever in the USA recently, and Tuman’s secured a barrel of this very limited draft beer for a special tapping on Wednesday, July 15. This beer has an exceptionally long conditioning and maturation period making it a truly distinctive specialty beer. 1270 features a straightforward malt character, sweet floral notes, and a hint of preserved peach. Fine caramel nuances unfold on the palate, accompanied by soft, gentle carbonation.

 

Tuman’s is also tapping two other award-winning Privatbrauerei Hirt beers for this event. HIrter Morchl Austrian Dark Lager, a dark beer with aromatic complexity, and notes of chocolate and coffee. Delicate roasted flavors on the palate at first sip, with the finest roasted malt bitterness accompanying the finish. Hirter Privat Pils Bohemian-Style Pilsner rounds out the Hirter lineup; this beer is refreshingly crisp and mild with a slightly bitter finish on the palate. The Heavy Hitter Tapping runs from 4 p.m.-midnight Wednesday, July 15. Meet the reps 4-7 p.m. No cover charge. Hirter beers are $7 each.

 

Privatbrauerei Hirt

Privatbrauerei Hirt (also known as Hirter Bier) is one of Austria's oldest independent breweries, operating since 1270 in the village of Hirt in Carinthia. Entirely family-run and free from corporate groups, the brewery is renowned for traditional craftsmanship. The brewery exclusively uses pristine water from Hanslbauer Springs and a network of twenty-four protected mountain springs, requiring no artificial water treatment. The brewery grows a large portion of the barley they use, and they source aroma hops both from organic cultivation in the Mühlviertel region and from the world's largest growing area, the Hallertau region in Bavaria. Instead of pasteurization, the brewery uses a gentle double-filtration and an extended conditioning process.
