Long-time team member and customer favorite Greg Glunt is back from three years living in Madrid! As he and his wife pass through DC on the way to their next assignment, he’s offered to take the tasting table on Saturday. And we couldn’t pass up a chance to have him pour and share his experiences in Spain and across Europe.

Come say “Hi” to Greg if you know him, or just come by to enjoy an exciting set of six delicious European wines. Including maybe the sweetest sweet wine anyone makes anywhere – Pedro Ximinez Sherry. Greg will be pouring:

Inazio Urruzola Getariako Txakolina Naturala Hernio 2024 – Spain’s full of great food and nowhere do they do small bites better than in the Basque country. When you’re eating pintxos, you’re drinking this.

Dom Benoit Chauveau Coteaux Du Giennois Silex 2024 – If I told you this was $45 Sancerre, after tasting it you’d say, “Yup – and a good one!” Steely, flinty, crisp and really delicious from $17.98.

Dom Pierredon Cotes du Rhone Villages Signargues 2024 – One of the best Cotes du Rhones we’ve tasted in a long while, the Mourvedre savory/earthy character will have you looking for something meaty to chew on.

Psi (Peter Sisseck) Ribera del Duero 2023 – In Spain, Greg got to know MANY expressions of the country’s greatest black grape. This is Tempranillo from hillside vineyards over the Duero River done with just enough oak to give shape and spice.

Girolamo Russo Etna Rosso A Rina 2024 – Greg shares our love of great Etna wines and his day on the volcano was a highlight of a Sicily jaunt. As Wine Advocate said, “Giuseppe Russo makes some of the best wines on Etna. Full stop.” This one’s especially good.

Alvear Pedro Ximenez Solera 1927 – When you dry PX grapes in the sun until shriveled and black and then press out the little, sugar-filled juice remaining, you get this: sweet, palate coating, unctuous nectar! From a solera started in 1927, it’s a classic.

All six wines Greg pours will be on sale during the tasting with best six-pack savings available on a mix/match basis. We hope you’ll join us noon-4pm on Saturday to catch up with and old friend and enjoy some new favorite wines!
