The class features a thorough coverage of the Catalonia Region, along with some of the best wines Spain has to offer during the tasting.

Catalonia

Catalonia is shaped primarily by a Mediterranean climate, producing a wide range of wine styles from full-bodied, powerful red wines to some of Spain’s most important sparkling and white wines. The region is also home to the majority of Cava, Spain’s traditional-method sparkling wine, whose best examples can rival Champagne in quality and complexity.

You will explore how elevation, soils, and the presence or absence of coastal influence drive stylistic differences across the region. The session includes a focused look at Priorat, its history, and its distinctive wines, represented through a single producer that clearly illustrates the region’s intensity and terroir-driven character.

In addition, you will taste wines from Catalunya DO, Penedès DO, and Costers del Segre DO, gaining insight into the diversity of styles produced across Catalonia. The class also examines how Cava is evolving, alongside a look at fresh, refined white wines that highlight the region’s balance between power, freshness, and innovation.
