Sometimes we pick the wines for our free weekend tastings to match a theme. Sometimes we cook up a theme to fit what we're going to pour. And then there's this week - when we're pouring really cool stuff you'll love without a ton of rhyme or reason! So come by the shop from 3-7pm Friday and get ready to have your mind blown by:
Field Recordings Shucks 2025 - As you'd expect of a wine called "Shucks," this is what to drink with oysters just out of the sea. Or crab or mussels or shrimp. Or even lentils with green olives - anything where bracing acidity, intense minerality, and a whiff of the sea is welcome.
Dom Thibert Macon-Verze 2022 - If you know what kind of wine "Macon-Verze" implies, forget it right now! This stands toe-to-toe with any village Puligny or Meursault at a fraction of the price.
Luigi Giordano Vino Rosso 2025 - A throwback to when Piemonte Nebbiolo needed some softening to be enjoyed young, this is 80% Nebbiolo co-fermented with 20% Arneis and aged briefly in stainless steel. Bright raspberry and strawberry fruit accented by notes of berry blossom, spice and leather. Fun summer pizza wine!
Bjornson Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2023 - Like grilled salmon? Drink this. Like roasted poultry, seared sausages, herby legumes, and all kinds of cheeses? Again, drink this. A stellar Pinot for the price.
Dom Salel et Renaud Chatus Syramuse 2023 - 100% Chatus, a rare grape once common in Ardeche. The wine is full of dark cherry and red berry fruit with a meaty, savory, streak that calls to mind Northern Rhone Syrah. The purple flower and dark red fruit flavors surge through a firm finish. Grill some lamb!
All the wines will be on sale during the tasting and you can mix/match for best six-pack savings, too. We may not know what to call this Friday's tasting - but you'll call it "delicious"!
