On August 21, The Tides’ features winemaker Jason Deloach, grandson of founder Cecil DeLoach. Cecil was a San Francisco Firefighter before he and his wife transitioned to winemaking. A constant companion, Jason trailed his grandfather through the vineyards, helping out where he could, earning his way. He studied viticulture and harvested the land in Chile where in quickly learned “cellar” Spanish.
Rooted in three generations of knowledge and a deep respect for the land, he believes great wines are made in the vineyard — in the cellar he guides fruit to its fullest expression. Working with estate fruit from Russian River Valley and Chalk Hill, Jason crafts small-lot wines that showcase each vineyard's unique character.
