Is Bolognese sauce a ragu or is vice-versa? First things first, a ragu sauce is an Italian meat-based sauce. Typically made from an array of meats like veal, beer, lamb, pork, fish or poultry, with a small incorporation of tomato sauce and minced elements. A Bolognese sauce is a variation of ragù but uses less tomato sauce and white wine. With the diverse meat options to use in the sauce, there are endless variations to create any type of ragù.
