In 1936, Châteauneuf-du-Pape made history as France's inaugural wine appellation and stands today as the epitome of the Southern Rhône wine region. This renowned sub-appellation, the largest in the Southern Rhône Valley, produces both white wines and, more notably, rich, alluring, and spicy reds. The dominant grape here is Grenache, complemented by a harmonious blend of 17 other grape varieties. For many enthusiasts, these wines act as a gateway into the world of viniculture. Once you savor the wines of this region, you're likely to become captivated. Expect wines characterized by a juicy and savory nature, boasting jammy red-fruit and black-cherry flavors, and a notable alcohol content. Typically, Grenache undergoes aging in vats or oak barrels for up to 18 months, resulting in a wine that is rich, complex, and full-bodied.
We are thrilled to introduce John Junguenet as our guest speaker, the owner of Wines of France import company. With his extensive knowledge and decades-long experience with Châteauneuf-du-Pape, he will lead us on an immersive journey dedicated to this intriguing wine-producing territory. You'll also indulge in a curated selection of wines, accompanied by a delectable French-inspired meal prepared by Chef Chris March and his culinary team.
