While most people may be familiar with wines from BC and Ontario, many may not know about wines from Canada's east coast. Provence Marinaside looks to remedy that with a dinner that heads east for a special evening inspired by the food, wine and stories of Nova Scotia. The first Cellar Series Dinner of the Fall season is a traditional-inspired Bluenoser Supper (‘Bluenoser’ is a Maritime term for people from Nova Scotia) featuring the wines of Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards - a family-owned farm winery with agricultural roots extending eight generations in the Annapolis Valley. Certified organic and biodynamic, the estate produces small quantities of expressive cool-climate wines with minimal intervention. Its vineyards overlook the Minas Basin, where the extraordinary tides and cool breezes of the Bay of Fundy help give the wines their distinctive freshness, energy and sense of place. Joining Provence for this very special dinner will be Rachel Lightfoot, the winery’s Director of Production Operations and the eighth generation of her family to work the land. Lightfoot & Wolfville wines will be paired with a menu created by Provence’s Owner/Executive Chef Jean-Francis Quaglia that is unmistakably East Coast - each course created to tell another part of the story of the winery and the landscape surrounding it. For this one night, Provence Marinaside becomes an East Coast table - generous food, distinctive wines shaped by land and sea, accompanied by stories that get a little better with every glass.
