Celebrating the Top Chef Alum's New Cookbook, Co-Authored with James Beard Award Winner® Andrea Lawson Gray
Top Chef alum Nelson German returns to New York for a one-night-only collaboration dinner inspired by his upcoming book, Caribbean Cocktails, co-authored with James Beard Award winner® Andrea Lawson Gray.
Raised in Washington Heights in New York City and based in Oakland, California, German is the chef and restaurateur behind Sobre Mesa, alaMar Kitchen & Bar, and Meski. For this special evening, German is teaming up with Bryan Ford, the Afro-Honduran baker, author, and television host known for his work exploring the baking traditions of Latin America and the Caribbean. These two chefs will explore how drinks and food come together around gathering, storytelling, and the flavors of the Afro-Latino diaspora.
Cocktails guide the evening, moving from bright and citrus-driven to rich, spiced, and savory, with dishes designed to match their rhythm and intensity. A selection of zero-proof cocktails will also be available, crafted with the same intention to balance and flavor.
Be prepared to sip slowly and drift off to island time through this immersive and transportive Caribbean evening.
This one-night-only dinner will feature a cocktail reception with passed hors d'oeuvre upon arrival, an expertly crafted multi-course menu with thoughtfully curated wine or beverage pairings, and a Q&A with the featured chefs.
