Chartreuse, the historic French herbal liqueur, is produced by Carthusian monks from a closely guarded recipe traditionally said to contain 130 herbs, plants, and flowers. First developed in the 18th century from an older manuscript as the Elixir Végétal de la Grande Chartreuse, Chartreuse is produced in several principal styles, including Green Chartreuse, which is higher-proof and intensely herbal, and Yellow Chartreuse, which is softer, sweeter, and lower in alcohol. Its remarkably complex profile combines notes of alpine herbs, mint, anise, citrus, flowers, and warming spice, evolving considerably as the liqueur ages.
Recently, several new cuvées have entered distribution in the U.S., and we are excited to feature the full lineup, including the highly regarded MOF and VEP bottlings. Please join Daniel Sheel and Quentin Fouquet from Chartreuse for a special evening exploring the full gamut of bottlings from the distillery, accompanied by a multi-course menu.
