An Evening With Brecon Estate: A Winemaker Pop-Up At Chelsea Restaurant

The accolades speak for themselves. The 2020 Malbec earned a 100-point score at the L.A. International Wine Competition — one of only a handful of perfect scores in Paso Robles history. The 2019 Reserve Cabernet Franc topped the same competition the year before with 99 points. Under Alex, Brecon swept the Pacific Rim International Wine Competition with Best of Show, Best White Wine, and Best Red Wine. Their 2018 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was named one of Forbes' Top 25 Wines in the World.

What We're Pouring

• 2025 Albariño — Elderflower and lily blossom on the nose, crisp fresh lime on the palate, a soft, Champagne-like toastiness on the finish. 97 points and Best in Class, Women's International Wine Competition.
• 2023 Budgie Smuggler — Tannat, Tempranillo, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a splash of Mourvèdre. Dark, brooding, structured. Less beach towel, more leather armchair.
• 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot — Old-vine Cabernet balanced by ripe, bright Merlot grown over calcareous bedrock. 98 points (Women's International Wine Competition), 94 points (International Wine Report), Double Gold (Pacific Rim Wine Competition), Gold and 94 points (Sunset International).
• 2023 Rude Nora — Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah, unapologetically in-your-face. Best of Class, Double Gold, and 98 points (Sunset International); Double Gold (Pacific Rim Wine Competition).
• 2023 Reserve Petite Sirah — Inky, deep purple, silky and multi-layered, with forest fruit and fresh-cut violets under toasty French oak. Best in Class and Platinum, Boston Wine Competition.

This event is hosted on the back patio of Chelsea Santa Monica — one of the best restaurants in the city — and their full menu is available all evening. Come hungry. Come a little early, meet us at the bar, and we'll head outside together for the tasting.
