All Things Sustainable Packaging workshop is a Central Coast event taking place Thursday, Nov. 12 at Chamisal Vineyards, organized in collaboration with Anna Brittain, Regeneration & Climate Action Consultant.

What does packaging have to do with regenerative agriculture, you may ask? Glass, packaging, and distribution account for 40-60% of vineyard and winery emissions — which makes packaging and farming the two areas where our industry can truly move the needle on emissions and resilience. You can see and feel a regenerative ethos when you open a package of wine devoid of plastics and polymers and pull out a bottle in lighter-weight glass.

The workshop is designed to be practical:

  • Brianne Engles, Winemaker, Chamisal Vineyards — packaging innovation at Crimson Wine Group
  • Thomas Deegan, CEO, Verallia — glass manufacturing and lightweighting
  • Adam Rack, Co-Founder, Revino — closing the loop on glass reuse
  • Patrick Spencer, Natural Cork Council — the only regenerative closure
  • The Cork Collective — recycling cork into playgrounds
  • Megan Hernandez & Brooke Shenk — building a Central Coast Zero Waste Collective
  • A session on regional recycling, plus the debut of a new sustainable packaging guide

When: Thursday, Nov. 12, 9:00 am–12:30 pm (registration opens 8:45)

Where: Chamisal Vineyards, Edna Valley, San Luis Obispo

Cost: $11.37 ($10.00 + $1.37 fee)
