A Tribute To The Huneeus Family By Tyler Florence And Mercedes Kozlowski

Sometimes, the most extraordinary celebrations are the most intimate. This special SOBEWFF® evening brings together celebrated chef and Food Network personality Tyler Florence and Prime Private’s Chef Mercedes Kozlowski, alongside a distinguished collection of Huneeus wines, for an exceptionally personal dinner honoring Agustin Huneeus Sr. and Agustin Huneeus Jr., recipients of the SGWS Lifetime Achievement Award.

For Florence, the evening carries special meaning. His longstanding friendship with Agustin and close connection to the Huneeus family make this far more than a traditional wine dinner. Together with Kozlowski, Florence will curate an elegant multi-course menu inspired by the occasion and designed to complement exceptional wines from the Huneeus portfolio. With a limited number of guests gathered around the table, the evening offers a rare opportunity to experience the food, wines, stories, and relationships behind one of the industry’s most enduring legacies up close.

A true vintner, Agustin Huneeus Sr. has spent a lifetime shaping the wine industry, from planting vineyards and making wine to building wineries, brands, and lasting partnerships. At just 24, he took the helm of Concha y Toro, helping transform it into Chile’s largest winery. While exporting those wines in the 1970s, he met Mel Dick, beginning a relationship between the Huneeus family and Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits that has endured for more than five decades and now spans three generations.

Huneeus Sr. went on to lead Seagram’s global wine business before moving his family to California in the 1980s to pursue his own vision in Napa Valley. As managing partner of Franciscan, he helped establish the winery as one of Napa’s top producers, founded Estancia, and later joined forces with his wife, Valeria, to plant Quintessa, one of Napa Valley’s most celebrated estates. In the 2000s, he founded Huneeus Vintners around a vision of building a small collection of exceptional estates defined by quality and longevity. His extraordinary contributions to the wine industry and Napa Valley ultimately earned him Wine Spectator’s Distinguished Service Award.

Growing up in the wine business, Agustin Huneeus Jr. learned the trade from the ground up. Over the past two decades, he has carried forward his father’s vision, growing Huneeus Vintners from a single estate into a family of acclaimed brands including Quintessa, Faust, Flowers, Favia, Benton Lane, and Leviathan. At the heart of his approach is a belief that fine wine is, first and foremost, a relationship business—a philosophy reflected in the family’s enduring partnership with Southern Glazer’s, built on trust, shared values, and decades of shared experiences.

Together, father and son represent two generations that have helped shape the modern wine industry while continuing to build its future side by side. And for one evening, guests will have the privilege of celebrating that story alongside them.

Set within the refined, private surroundings of Prime Private, this is a different kind of Festival experience—smaller in scale, but extraordinary in every detail. An intimate room.
