The Valle de Uco sits high in the Andes foothills, where the altitude and weather swing between extremes, and vineyards sit on alluvial, mineral-rich soils dense with calcium carbonate and marine fossils. Sebastián Zuccardi has spent 20 years learning how to transmit this distinct identity into the glass. Of striving for wines that, as he explains, "express with transparency and precision, the place where they come from."
Family Zuccardi is three generations deep. What began as an unlikely agricultural experiment in 1963 has become one of Argentina's most serious estates; the result of a quality of listening brought to a single extraordinary valley.
On June 7, Sebastián joins us at the Barrel Hall for an evening devoted to his wines:a Blanc de Blancs, a Semillon, two Chardonnays, and three distinct expressions of Malbec, each from a named finca, each telling a different version of a story about soil, altitude, and restraint.
