Ashwin Muthiah

Ashwin Muthiah is a sommelier (a nice one), documentary host, and Founder of UNPINNED Wine Club and Bottle Shop. He spent the better part of a decade traveling the world in pursuit of flavor: he has visited the archaeological site in Georgia where winemaking began 8,000 years ago, rolled whiskey casks through freezing rain on Islay, and has explored with his bare hands volcanic winemaking in Somló, Santorini, and Sicily.

He has harvested grapes on multiple continents and can tell you precisely how much your back hurts afterward.

Ashwin built the UNPINNED Wine Club and Bottle Shop around the idea that the wines worth drinking come from people, not corporations. He tastes many hundreds of bottles and selects only a handful, almost all of it low-intervention, much of it organic or biodynamic. Ashwin is beloved for his unique ability to both enlighten and entertain - whether in-person, online, or via social media, and he has built an audience of some 200,000 people all over the world ranging from casual drinker to industry vet.
