With centuries of winemaking history, there is no doubt that Germany should be considered among the classic and traditional wine regions of Europe. However, the wines of Germany today are radically different from those of the past, thanks in large part to an influx of modern winemaking techniques as well as the rapidly changing climate. This once marginal, cold climate region is now consistently producing refreshing but ripe wines, both white and red, year after year. In this tasting, you will learn more about the surprising diversity of German wines now being produced, and hear some speculation on what we might be able to expect in the future. We will absolutely be tasting some amazing examples of Riesling, however we will pay equal attention to the many other varieties of wine to be found across the country.
This class is taught by Matthew Brown DipWSET on Zoom on Friday, March 24 with wine samples available for curbside pickup by appointment on Thursday, March 23 between 12pm – 5pm.
