Running 280 miles from Monterey in the north to Santa Barbara in the south, California’s “Central Coast” isn’t really a single wine region. From cool, foggy, sites that just barely ripen crisp, steely, Chardonnay to baking-hot, bone dry, vineyards where only very old-vine Zinfandel and Petit Sirah can survive, it’s wildly diverse. But even across that diversity, there are some common threads and themes that may make think the folks who decide these things weren’t entirely crazy to create the Central Coast AVA!
In this class, we’ll be exploring the southerly portion of the Central Coast with a focus on vines and wines from just south of Paso Robles to just north of Santa Barbara. As we get to know 7 distinct and delicious wines, you’ll learn about how common threads of soils, climate, culture and winegrowing history come together to at least hint at a Central Coast identity.
The class takes place on Thursday, August 22 at 7pm in our downstairs classroom. As always, we’ll serve up some wine-friendly nibbles and loads of great information as you experience California at a "value." Just $45.00 per person and open to register right now!
