Our favorite all-purpose, all-season fizz is back in the shop and you don’t want to miss trying it – you can’t get more bubbly delight for under $15! Our two selections from Ch Montfaucon are perfect grilling companions, one in a lighter/fresher style and the other bolder/richer. And who says Nebbiolo can’t be fun? Not you once you’ve tried the just-arrived Valtellina San Gregorio from Aldo Rainoldi. Join us from noon-4pm on Saturday to sample:
Dom de Martinolles Blanquette de Limoux NV - A delicious, dry, crisp, Mauzac fizz with notes of green apple, pear, some leesy, yeasty, notes and maybe even a bit of vanilla.
Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2024 – A New Zealand benchmark Sauvignon picks up a touch more richness with not loss of vibrancy or cut.
Ch de Montfaucon IGP Gard Le Petit Baron 2020 – The kind of gutsy cookout red the Rhone does so well with plenty of ripe red berry/cherry fruit and a dusty, smile-inducing finish.
Ch de Montfaucon Lirac Rouge 2021 – The sandy base soils of Lirac, just across the river from Chateauneuf, gives this full-bodied Rhone red a silky feel and just-right structure.
Aldo Rainoldi Rosso di Valtellina San Gregorio 2023 – Nebbiolo does something different at high altitudes, delivering super fresh strawberry fruit with just a hint of leather and earth. A delicious discovery here.
With the wines, as the maker says, “Something new and something bleu!” We’ll be featuring Point Reyes Blue Fennel, which adds a touch of fennel sweetness and licorice notes to their award-winning cow’s milk bleu. A great salad or pizza topper if you don’t gobble it all down with crackers!
