About the Tour

The American Grown Field to Vase Dinner Tour invites guests nationwide to dine in the fields of America’s most stunning flower and foliage farms. The dinner tour is a cross-country series of gatherings where seasonal blooms and foliage dazzle on beautifully designed tablescapes dressed by top U.S. floral designers, while gourmet meals are prepared by well-known farm-to-table chefs.

Since launching, the dinners have garnered unprecedented local and national media attention and provided a wildly successful way to showcase the heritage of America’s flower-farming families. In 2017, the tour snagged Floral Management’s Marketer of the Year Award.

Certified American Grown, the organizer of these dinners, is a non-profit association who provides a voice for ONLY American farmers. Proceeds from the Field to Vase Dinner Tour contribute to CAG's advocacy and marketing efforts to promote American farms and preserve American floriculture heritage.

Experience the Most Spectacular Flower Fields in America

Treat yourself to the experience of a lifetime. Dine amongst the blooms while overlooking the Pacific Ocean at the American Grown Field to Vase Dinner at The Flower Fields in Carlsbad, California on April 11, 2024. Meet flower farmer Mike A. Mellano of Mellano & Company and learn about his family’s flower farming history and partnership with The Flower Fields while enjoying an artisan dinner among a sea of ranunculus.

Due to its beauty and popularity, this is our eighth visit to The Flower Fields. Each year, guests are awed by the experience of dining smack dab in the middle of a ranunculus rainbow!

Your Experience

Your Field to Vase experience will begin with a welcome reception at The Flower Field's barn area and will feature local beverages, including wines from South Coast Winery in addition to appetizers.

As guests sip their drinks and nibble on delicious bites, they can take in the sights and scents of the flowers around them, enjoy the DIY Flower Bar and floral demonstration, all setting the stage for a memorable evening. The welcome reception also provides an opportunity for guests to meet and chat with other flower enthusiasts, including growers, designers, and fellow guests who share a passion for all things floral.

After the welcome reception, guest will be invited to venture to the long table set amongst the blooms that will include a feast for the eyes, thanks to the innovative tablescapes featuring all local flowers and foliage designed by Kelly Shore, owner and lead designer of Petals by the Shore and The Floral Source.

Featured in Florists' Review and Washingtonian Bride and Groom, among other national and local media, Kelly will bring her passion for flowers and her gift for creating beauty to our table. Guests will be in awe of her garden-style designs that are lush, full of texture and feature bold color combinations. After all, she's become a pro at designing with ALL American Grown flowers and foliage for weddings and nationally acclaimed events.

You’ll also enjoy a multi-course artisan family style meal prepared by acclaimed Chef Matt Baker of Feast on This Catering using fresh and seasonal ingredients, expertly paired with local wines from South Coast Winery. This sensational meal will be enjoyed surrounded by waves of stunning flowers alongside flower aficionados like yourself, while learning about the value of buying and supporting American farms.

Not only will you leave the dinner table with an experience of a lifetime but you will be taking home an armful of American grown bouquets and other swag.

The Flowers

Alive with blooms, the hillside where the farm is located overlooking the Pacific Ocean is one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The Flower Fields farm is the home of the Tecolote® Giant Ranunculus, also known as the Persian buttercup or Ranunculus asiaticus. Incredibly colorful and beautiful, the ranunculus flower is native to Asia Minor and is a member of the Buttercup family.

The Flower Fields

The Flower Fields in Carlsbad, just north of San Diego, is owned by the Ecke family, known throughout the United States for its contributions to the floriculture industry and the commercial cultivation of the poinsettia.

The Ecke Family has formed a partnership with Mellano and Company to create an example of successful agritourism at The Flower Fields. Due to their continued benevolence and foresight, The Flower Fields will continue to be a national jewel, an attraction enjoyed for future generations.

The site covers 50 acres of hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean and is planted, farmed and harvested by Mellano & Company. Over 100,000 people tour The Flower Fields each year, but you’re invited to be one of just a handful of people who will get to experience a dinner in the middle of the farm.

Because of its spectacular views and array of blooms, The Flower Fields is the only farm The American Grown Field to Vase Dinner Tour has returned to over multiple years.
