Includes all WSET study materials, spirits tasting samples selected by Jay Youmans MW, 4 online sessions guided by a CWS instructor, the examination, and mailing of certificates of achievement to addresses in the US.

This 4-class course will be taught on Zoom on the following Monday evenings from 6:00pm – 9:30pm (EDT): February 26, March 4, 18, and 25 with the online, remotely invigilated exam on Saturday, April 6 at 11:00am EDT.

Students who enroll in the course will pick up their study materials and spirits samples at the Capital Wine School on February 23 between 12:00pm – 5:00pm. *Please scroll down to Additional Information for important details regarding spirits sample and study materials pick ups.

This is an intermediate-level qualification exploring spirits and aromatised wines for those working in the industry or spirits enthusiasts. This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of spirits or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits.

You’ll learn about the fundamental production methods and principal raw materials, discovering how they are used to make the key spirit styles. You’ll also explore the key practices and principles of serving spirits and the use of spirits in cocktails. Upon achievement you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

Recommended Learning Hours: 15 Guided Learning Hours (including one hour for the examination) and 11 hours of private study.

Spirits sample/study guide pickps: Please make a note of the spirits sample/study guide pickup date mentioned in the schedule above, as it will not appear on your registration confirmation. We cannot accommodate requests for pickups in advance of the date/times mentioned above. Students who are unable to come to the school to pick up their samples and study guide may have their materials shipped to them for an additional shipping fee – please email info@capitalwineschool.com for more information. Requests for shipping must be received by at least 7 days before the course begins. Finally, materials for those who request and pay for shipping will ship to arrive the day of the first scheduled class, and we cannot accommodate requests for earlier arrival.

Invitation to join course: Zoom invitations will be emailed the day before or the morning of the first class.

*The Capital Wine School makes every effort to record each class and to make the recorded session available to participating students for up to one week after the scheduled class. While we have been able to successfully record these sessions for the vast majority of our classes, occasionally a technical glitch or human error will result in a failure to record some or all of a class. The Capital Wine School will not offer refunds or other concessions for classes that a student is unable to attend live, and for which a recorded session is unavailable due to an unexpected error. It is for this reason that we strongly encourage students to try to attend the live, online class session(s) as scheduled whenever possible.
