Includes all WSET study materials, wine tasting samples selected by Jay Youmans MW, online class session guided by a CWS instructor, and the examination.
June 11: Wine Sample/study guide pickup between 12pm – 5pm by appointment (scroll down to Additional Information for important notes regarding wine sample and study guide pickups).
June 12: Online course 9:00am – 2:30pm with a short break for lunch
July 6: Online, remotely invigilated exam from 5:30pm – 6:15pm
6 Guided Learning Hours, including 45 minutes for the examination
This class covers the main types of wine, the most common grape varieties, wine service, storing and serving wine, tasting technique, how to describe the smell and taste of wine, and the basics of pairing food and wine. During the class, students taste eight different wines. Three weeks after the full-day course, students will take an online, remotely invigilated 45-minute, multiple choice exam. Those who pass the exam receive the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines.

Due to covid-19, we are only able to offer an online/remote exam option for this course at this time.
Registrants should access the “RI-Candidate Information” document in the FAQ section of the website under “Can I Take My WSET Exam Online” to determine if this method of exam delivery is right for you.
Students who would prefer to wait to take a paper exam in person once conditions are safe to do so must email us at email@example.com after registering, or at least 17 business days prior to the scheduled exam – if we do not hear from you, you will be automatically enrolled in the online/remote exam option.
Registration deadline: Registration is required by June 10 and there are no refunds or cancellations after this date.
Wine sample/study guide pickps: Please make a note of the wine sample/study guide pickup date mentioned in the schedule above, as it will not appear on your registration confirmation. We cannot accommodate requests for wine sample pickups in advance of the date/times mentioned above. Students who are unable to come to the school to pick up their wine samples and study guide may have their materials shipped to them for an additional shipping fee – please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Requests for shipping must be received no later than 7 days before the scheduled class. Materials will ship to arrive the day before class, and we cannot accommdate requests for materials to arrive earlier than the day before class.
Invitation to join course: *Cisco Webex or Zoom invitations are usually emailed the day of class (or the afternoon/evening before if the class start time is in the morning) and may not have an @capitalwineschool.com suffix if it comes directly from the instructor teaching the class/course.
