While small in terms of total wine production, Wairarapa’s boutique wineries have big international reputations for the quality of their Pinot Noir wines. Pinot Noir is a notoriously difficult wine to make well. The grapes must be extremely ripe when picked, have very high sugar levels, and are best suited to cool climate regions. The area is characterised by quaint little towns dotted between rolling fields of sheep, olives and grapes – all set against a panoramic mountain backdrop.

Private Customized Wine Tour - Upon arrival in Martinborough you will be greeted by your local, knowledgeable host at Tirohana Estate. Enjoy a wine tasting and local cuisine with a 2-course lunch (including 1 glass of wine per person). Wellington, the Capital of New Zealand, is known for its vibrant arts scene, world class café and restaurant culture and active outdoor lifestyle. This creative, cosmopolitan city is surrounded by the rugged beauty of green hills and has an easily walkable downtown area set around an attractive waterfront. It offers a mixture of modern and older style buildings and the strong Victorian influence is testimony to Wellington's early establishment as the country's centre of political life. Of particular note is the Government Building built in 1876, the second largest timber building in the world. Wellington combines the sophistication of a capital with the warmth and personality of a village.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

The town is compact enough to travel around on foot and features a great range of restaurants, bars and boutique stores. The lake was created by glacial action thousands of years ago and a mysterious phenomenon causes the lake to vary several inches in depth every few minutes, giving credence to a Maori legend of an ancient Taniwha (demon) still breathing beneath the surface. A more scenic location would be difficult to find.

Skyline Queenstown Buffet Lunch Including Gondola Ride - The Skyline Gondola will whisk you smoothly up 450 metres to Bob’s Peak, as Queenstown drops away below you. From the top, enjoy buffet lunch whilst taking in the breathtaking views, which extend almost 360 degrees from Coronet Peak around to the Remarkables and on to Cecil and Walter Peaks on the other side of Lake Wakatipu.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure in the adventure capital of New Zealand.

Day 14 - Today enjoy a full day at leisure in the adventure capital of New Zealand. (B, D)

During your leisure time you might want to travel up Bob’s peak by Gondola to enjoy spectacular views across Lake Wakatipu to the Remarkables Range in the distance. Maybe visit the Kiwi & Birdlife Park, a sanctuary for rare, endangered and common New Zealand bird species including of course our national icon the Kiwi. If walking is of interest to you then you may like to take a lakeside stroll to the Queenstown Gardens, or take a guided ½ day nature walk through native Beech Forest enjoying morning tea on the lakeshore listening to Native bird calls. If all these leisurely pursuits become too much then Queenstown has more adrenaline pumping activities than most towns. You can jet-boat up narrow river chasms, bungy jump, luge ride, go whitewater rafting, river surfing, abseiling, mountain biking, tandem parachuting and parapenting, to name just a few of the options available to you.
