Amuse Bouche Bordeaux Style-Red, Napa Valley, California, 2018 ($230)

About the Wine:

You will notice the earthy complexity from aroma to finish, underlined by beautiful, subtle Bordeaux-esque cherry fruit, cassis, bright elements of blueberries and warm, integrated oak nuances.

Barnett "Rattlesnake Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon, Spring Mountain, Napa Valley, 2017 ($250)

About the Wine:

The 2017 Rattlesnake is opaque purple at the core with a dark purple rim. At this very young stage, the nose is expressing pure cassis concentrate, black plum, ground cocoa nib, and anise. Numerous spices start to emerge from the glass; clove, pepper, and bright cinnamon. Every return to the glass brings a new round of descriptors. Round upon entrance, the wine is very quick to the big chalky tannins at this stage. Coffee grounds, cooking chocolate, and dark volcanic minerality dominate the palate. The tannins are certainly young and firm, chalky but very present, while mountain acidity comes in for balance. This is one of the biggest Rattlesnake Cabernets we have ever made, where at 18-19 years it will start to show a beautiful bottle bouquet and still have some youthful fruit.

Rubicon Estate, Inglenook, 'Rubicon' Red, Napa Valley 2017 ($200)

About the Wine:

The 2017 Rubicon is expansive, with intriguing depth. The wine has exciting complexity below the surface, which enhances its expressiveness. There is a defined aromatic core of ripe red and black fruits, especially raspberry, black cherry, and cassis. It is seamless on the palate, with finely-polished tannins. The lingering finish is refreshing, with notes of crème de cassis and cocoa powder.

Groth, Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, Oakville, California, 2018 ($160)

About the Wine:

Purple-ruby in color, this wine is dark and rich even to the eye. A plethora of aromatics greet you from the glass, beginning with blueberry and black currant, and leading to cinnamon, mocha, lavender and clove. The final aromatics to reveal themselves are cigar box and wet gravel. When tasting the wine, the first impression is the fine tannin and balanced acid, which then leads to boysenberry, blackberry and ripe plum skin. The finish is seamless and smooth — the hallmark of a Groth Reserve Cabernet.

Cakebread, Benchland Select Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California, 2017 ($150)

About the Wine:

A big, ripe nose of fresh boysenberry, blackberry and dark cherry fruit, complemented by seductive roasted earth and dark chocolate scents, introduces lush, deeply concentrated flavors of boysenberry, blackberry, dark cherry and cassis framed by firm but supple tannins. The wine’s dramatically long, savory finish showcases rich, dark fruit with notes of chocolate, spice and toasted oak. Thoroughly delicious now, this complex, opulent, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon will handsomely reward another 7-10 years’ aging.

Arcudi "Terramagra" Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 2019 ($65)

About the Wine:

2019 was an outstanding vintage in Napa Valley. Mother Nature provided a long warm summer followed by a mild fall., These excellent conditions allowed the grapes to reach full ripeness. The wine is plush and very approachable.
