“If You Could Have Only One…” by Marty Cook
Our next episode of Wine Wednesday, on August 4th at 7:00 pm Eastern/New York Time asks us to imagine being marooned on a desert island with a stash of wine that will last us the duration of our isolation. But… and, a big “but”… every bottle of that stash is the same! The second presumption of this imaginary scenario is that you get to select what wine is in all of those bottles. Try not to think of your favorite wine. Instead of that, try to think of the one wine that you would enjoy that would get you through the rigors of foraging for coconuts or catching fish barehandedly! What one wine would “do it” for you? Maybe it would be a simple, easy-drinking table wine. Or, perhaps you would prefer something fortified that could deliver the maximum jolt and sustain your delirium. Assume for the purposes of this exercise that proper storage will not be an issue. Who knows? Maybe you will discover some caves that were used by the last unlucky mariner that spent time sequestered on this same desert island. In the meantime, your only job is to conjure up that wine… the one you would choose if you could have only one…
